The third farm-to-table dining experience of the 2023 season is a unique event bringing together people from all walks of life to commune on what was once one of the largest plantations in North Carolina, Stagville. We will begin the evening learning about the history of the plantation with a private tour of the grounds at 4 pm. For dinner, we will share a six-course meal curated by the Ocholas, the owners of The Palace International. The menu combines Black American Southern and Kenyan cuisine into one flavorful dining experience. The dinner will also feature live music curated by local musician CJ Baker.
As part of the experience, we ask that you BYOP (bring your own plate). This can be a plate passed down through generations or one you just think is cool. Participants will share the history of the plate while we build community and learn more about the person sitting next to you.
Note the dinner will be held outdoors directly after a 4 pm tour of the grounds. The tour is optional.
$20 of each ticket will be donated to The Stagville Memorial Project as they raise funds to create a contemporary art piece in downtown Durham that celebrates and educates about the impact of the work of the enslaved Africans held at Stagville Plantation. The Stagville Memorial Project
One ticket per person for the six course dinner. Seats are not assigned and dinner will be outside. Please let wait staff know if you have any allergies upon arrival.
